How
do you handle an acne flare-up? Do you run to the nearest drugstore searching
for a miracle cure? Do you wear your shirt collar a little higher hoping no one
will notice? Or, do you just lay low for a while until your face clears ups?
How to get rid of acne? Well, there's a better way to deal with acne.
If
you enjoy flaunting a blemish free face, all you need to do is keep a few
common household goods handy. Then, as soon as you begin to break out, use
them. Curious? Below are ten common household products that you probably don't
know also double as acne fighters.
1)
Arm & Hammer Baking Soda. Make a paste out of Arm & Hammer Baking soda
by mixing a heaping tablespoon of it with a bit of water. Next, dab this paste
on your acne. Wait a few minutes, then, gently scrub your face with more paste.
This process will not only exfoliate your dead skin cells, it will also deep
clean your skin and loosen black heads.
2)
Colgate Toothpaste. (My personal favorite) Dab a bit of Colgate Toothpaste
(regular) over a pimple. You'll feel it tingle in only a few minutes. Wait at
least two hours and wash it off. You'll notice that your pimple has begun to
dry out. For the best effect, leave the toothpaste on overnight and wash it off
in the morning. (Warning: This remedy only works with the original formula of
Colgate. It will not work with tartar control or the gels!)
3)
Elmer's Glue-All. Instead of spending several dollars on Biore strips in order
to remove blackheads, use Elmer's Glue-All. Apply a thin layer of it on the
area of concern. Let it dry. Then, gently peel it off. The glue will act as an
exfoliator and pull out blackheads. (Warning: Keep this glue away from your
eyes!)
4)
Epsom Salt. Add one teaspoon of Epsom Salt along with three drops of iodine to
one-half cup of boiling water. Let this mixture cool, then, dampen cotton swabs
with it. Afterwards, apply the cotton swabs to clogged pores. It will gently
unclog them attacking blackheads.
5)
Kingsford's Corn Starch and ReaLemon. After an acne break out, mix one teaspoon
of Kingsford's Corn Startch with one teaspoon of ReaLemon lemon juice. Make a
paste. Apply it to the affected area and let it dry. This treatment will
eliminate redness and helps pimples dry fast.
6)
Lipton Tea Bags. Dampen a Lipton Tea Bag with warm water (do not squeeze out)
and apply it as a compress over your pimple(s). By doing so, you will bring a
pimple to a head quicker. As a result, it will heal and be gone sooner.
7)
Neosporin. Apply a bit of Neosporin over your acne. Because it is an antiobiotic,
it will help clear up your blemishes.
8)
Vicks VapoRub. Vicks Vaporub drys out your pimples fast! Apply some over the
infected area and you'll soon see all of your blemishes vanish.
9)
Phillip's Milk of Magnesia. In order to speed up the healing process of your
acne, dab your pimples with Phillip's Milk of Magnesia. Along with reducing
redness, it will also dry up excess oils speeding up the healing process.
10)
SueBee Honey and Band-Aid Bandages. To bring a pimple to a head, cover it with
SueBee Honey and place a Band-Aid bandages over it before you go to bed. Honey
will kill bacteria which will keep the pimple sterile and bringing it to a head
overnight.
