Growing Pomegranates

When you are growing pomegranates they need to be grown in the sunniest , warmest part of the yard. Some people nail them to the sunny side of the house. I have never grown these trees in the garden but what I have read about them is they are tough and leathery . They grow best in well drained ordinary soil, but also thrives in acidic loam.

give trees a 2 to 4 ounce application of ammonium sulphate the first two springs, after that little fertilizer is needed, maybe some well rotted manure now and then.

You will find that they are drought tolerant , they should be watered every 2- 4 weeks in the dry season. When growing pomegranates you will find they adapt well to growing in a container and will sometimes fruit in a greenhouse.

They prefer a semi-arid mild temperature to a subtropical climate, and are naturally adapted to regions with hot summers and cool winters, humidity adversely affects the formation of fruit.
The trees can be severely injured by temperatures below 12° F. noting this I would cover the tree under burlap or scrim.
